Small Business
In 2013, Owner and Founder Matt Reichel was working as a construction manager, building and engineering gas and coal-fired power plants across the US. As much as he loved the work, he was ready for something different. Matt sold all of his personal belongings, purchased an RV, and hit the road. He spent the next three years ski bumming in Breckenridge as an instructor and traveling to mountain bikes parks in the Western US, and it was during this time he saw the need for a small, capable and quality camper. The very first camper was built in a one car garage while living on Boreas Pass Road in Breckenridge, CO. And yes this is also how the model name was born. Fun fact, Boreas is the Greek God of Winter and the North Wind. As Matt saw the potential for these campers, the business was moved to Denver, CO and has continued to grow ever since. Since the one man, one car garage operation Boreas Campers has expanded its manufacturing capabilities exponentially. The Boreas has broken the mold in both manufacturing processes and retail. In 2018, all wood products were removed from the camper. A combination of fiberglass, steel, and aluminum was used to produce a lighter, yet stronger camper that wouldn't succumb to the degradation of wood products. Matt also saw the demand growing beyond a built to order, direct to consumer format. In 2017 Matt took Boreas Campers to a national level, partnering with dealerships across the US. This eliminated lead times on deliveries and allowed more interested people to see the campers in person. Click the link HERE to see the full blog on why we operate through a dealer network.
