What Are My Rights If I’m Pulled Over By A Police Officer?
https://www.MedlinFirm.com/ | (682) 204-4066 If you're pulled over by a police officer you have the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure and an arrest or detention not supported by reasonable suspicion of probable cause. So if you get pulled over by a police officer, I would suggest first off you don’t answer any questions. If they ask you some questions, you can say I exercise my right to remain silent. Of course, you need to give them your drivers license and your proof of insurance, but beyond that don’t answer any questions. If they try to detain you and they don’t have reasonable suspicion that you've committed a crime then that detention is illegal; anything they learn, gain or have as possible evidence after that cannot be used against you in court. If they arrest you and they don’t have probable cause that you've committed a crime then anything they learn, find, or have as evidence after that cannot be used against you because it was the result of an illegal arrest. So you have the right to be free from illegal detentions and illegal arrests so when they pull you over don’t give them anything that helps them out. Exercise your right to remain silent, be polite, if they ask you to step out of the car, follow their directions but you don’t have to answer any questions. You don’t have to do any tests and you don’t have to consent to a search of your car, your person, or anything else.
