Fernando Villarroel, a long-time resident of Northern Virginia and native Spanish speaker, graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Affairs and a Minor in Spanish. Fernando later graduated from the American University Washington College of Law, where he was an active participant in the Latino/a Law Students’ Association and the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. Fernando was also very involved in his law school’s distinguished clinical program and successfully defended clients in court during his participation in the Criminal Justice Clinic program. Before entering private practice, Fernando served as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judges of the Circuit Court of Arlington County, where he gained experience in trial practice through conducting legal research and drafting bench memoranda in connection with both criminal and civil cases. Once he entered private practice, Fernando has focused primarily on criminal defense. Fernando has represented clients in serious sexual offense case, theft crimes, violent crimes, drug crimes, as well as all forms of misdemeanors and traffic matters.
