There has been much discussion concerning the sovereignty of God vs. Freewill, and I was asked to give my understanding on a Christian discussion forum. This article explains why I believe the whole subject is a red herring. Those who believe in eternal torment use freewill as an argument against a sovreign God achieving His stated purpose, and those who believe in Universal Salvation too often fall into the trap of arguing that freewill doesn't exist. I believe this simply distracts both parties from the real issues.
