Statistics confirm Spain’s enduring appeal to Brits
21st August 2007
In spite of recent reports in the media concerning the long-term
prospects of the market, Spanish property remains the number one choice
for Britons buying overseas, a new report has confirmed.
According
to the latest figures released by Propertyline, 43 per cent of all
enquiries it received from potential investors were for Spain.
In comparison, 13 per cent of people wanted information on buying in France and just 11 per cent asked about Italian property.
Rob
Haynes of Propertylink said: "The newspapers all like to hype up bad
news, but it seems we are not being put off owning a dream home in the
sun."
The firm added that television property programmes have
helped to promote Spain as an attractive investment choice and place to
retire to.
Just last month, a study by the Bank of Scotland
found that almost half of all 45 to 54-year-olds have considered buying
a property overseas, either for investment purposes or in order to
retire to the sun.
