Kid's Gardening – Good Bug, Bad Bug
Eden Gardens and Garden Centre at North Ryde in Sydney offers a fun, educational class that will not only entertain your kids, but also teach them a few interesting fact about nature and our environment. Eden Education also offers creative, hands on enrichment courses, demonstrations, lectures and displays and you can partake in decorative art and craft courses as well. But the focus today is on the kid’s activities. Classes are offered every school holidays and range in topics: Dinosaurs, Horticulture, Insects, Good Bug, Bad Bug and Backyard Vegies. The class is made up of classroom activities and garden activities, is suitable for 5-9 year olds and costs $11 for a one and a half hour class
The classes vary, so they often have repeat customers! They could be making a model bug to take home, or plant some butterfly attracting plants, exploring the garden for bugs or learning about what bugs eat and what they do to the plants.
So while the children are learning about the environment they are having a fantastic time in class.
And they also hold monthly groups for 3-6 year olds, which parents also attend. The classes are simpler, and teach things like digging holes etc.
Other attractions at Eden Gardens are the Dragon Fly Café where children are welcome and the sculpture and play garden will capture their imagination, and the Eden Gardens Art Gallery, which has renowned national and international artists exhibiting works focused on the garden and the urban environment, as well as featuring photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles jewellery and drawing.
